Dr.'s Visit

So Ellie is now 9lbs. even! She is also now 20 1/2 inches long. The doctor said she is growing well and looks great! She had one shot today, and it sounds like the 2 month appointment will have a lot more. :(

1 month!

yay! That is so exciting... your comment makes a lot of sense - though I cannot say I've experienced it. It did go by quickly though! Is she able to fit into hats now? You said she was pretty tiny... and if she isn't even 8 pounds... that is a tiny little girl! You'll need to post some more pictures of her up on here! Go crazy like mom did in the film age! Now we are digital... so you should have LOTS of shots!

Keep in mind, Derek and I don't get to see all of her changes as she gets bigger - since we are so far away...

Ellie's Drs Appointment

Ellie turned 1 month old yesterday! It went by slow as heck and fast as hell. I'm sure if you've had kids you would understand that.

Ellie has her 1 month checkup today. I think she will be getting a ton of shots today :( as well as her official 1 month height and weight. Hopefully she is up over 8 pounds now. I'm going to try and make it, but not sure if I'll be able to leave work for the couple hours it will take.

Oktoberfest!

Ours is this weekend at Tempe town lake. Sounds like you both had some fun... which is Seth Greene AWESOME!!! So you only have about 2 weeks until you move into your new place... and can finally walk around w/ all of your things not blocking the way. I am soo happy for you both!

Movie date night

After handing Ellie over to mom, our aunt, and grandma we ate dinner at Bandanas and went to see Eagle Eye. it was ok. I wouldn't NOT recommend it.

On Saturday we went to see Sarah's mom and Gary at one of his baseball games. it was the first playoff game and they won. We also went to Octoberfest in downtown st charles with Ellie asleep in her stroller. She slept pretty well that night.

Sarah is IMing me letting me know that Ellie has been unhappy all morning today. hopefully she takes a nap for sarah so she can get a little peace and stop by the post office to deliver our birth announcements.

Movie

So what movie did you watch when the rents babysat Ellie? Would you recommend it? Derek and I watched 21, and Ed and His Dead Mother. They were ok... Ed reminded me of a Bruce Campbell flick.. kinda campy - but you might like it. It is about a guy that bring his mother back to life... only to find out she has a very unnatural way to stay... ALIVE! haaha.

3 Weeks!

Just 3 weeks til closing! You must be very excited!!!

It is a really nice house, and I am very happy for you both.

So, when it is all up and ready... will you have a guest room available? :) I might need a place to crash after one of my "long runs"!!!

Formula

we are thinking about switching over to formula full time a little early. Ellie has been really bad about spitting up and being fussy for the past week. so we tried an experiment for a couple days of just giving her formula and she has spit up a lot less, and slept a lot better as well.

We also have an appointment tonight with a possible day care provider. Hopefully she is nice.

Only 3 weeks left till we close on our house!

PS. Of course we had cheddar biscuits those are the best!

date night

We had a nice date night. We went out to Red Lobster for the endless shrimp, then ran a couple errands. It was pretty nice.

Ellie has been really restless lately, she hasn't slept much at all the past couple of days. she will sleep for about 10-15 minutes before losing her pacifier and getting fussy and start crying again... I really hope this is just a growth spurt and not colic. I had to work at 4am sunday morning, and I couldn't get any sleep before hand because she wouldn't sleep or stop crying.

Friday Date Night!

So how was your first date night since Ellie's birth? I know mom was elated to babysit... she called me and I could actually hear her dancing. I hope you had a nice time.. I know she did.

So what did you guys do? Derek and I have just been hanging around, taking it pretty easy! (Since I am having to take some time off from aggressively running!)

Well, right now her eyes are still blue...but a good majority of babies have blue eyes at birth and they usually don't change for a few months. Hopefully they stay that way, but whatever they become, she will look adorable!

Ice cream

I've got great parents!

They brought ice cream over Saturday for Sarah. She was ecstatic, she was really craving some all week.

Jeanne was also great this week, she drove Sarah and Ellie around to her Doctor's appointments on Thursday.

Sarah is doing great after her c-section, and Ellie is gaining weight like she should. Also, Ellie's cord stump finally fell off Saturday night! She now has the cutest little belly button!!!

We are starting to put together the birth announcements. We have pictures that are going to go in them for everyone, and they should start going out this week.

I have exactly 1 more month before I close on my house! Sarah and I can't wait. Now that Ellie is here, we went from having no room for anything to having to step over stuff to go anywhere. We have started to pack away a few things from our apartment, but the big packing will happen the week we move since I'll be taking an entire week off.

Hello Ellie! I was able to hold you Friday. You are so sweet. What a darling! Your mom and daddy are so wonderful. I took home a picture of you and shared it with all my friends. I sent my phone pix with family. :)

Sleep, glorious sleep

Yay, I got a good night's sleep last night! Ellie only woke up twice last night and was pretty well behaved both times! now I know this isn't some turning point where I can expect this every night, but after the night before Sarah and I really really needed that!

We also received some really cute onesies from Tristin yesterday, one of them is a really cute Halloween outfit. Thanks sis!

Update on Davey

something really cute happened yesterday.

Davey likes to play fetch with his rope bone. He will occasionally come by and drop it next to me or sarah so that we will throw it for him. Yesterday, he started dropping it next to Ellie.

I've got a bad case of the Mondays

Oh man, its monday morning and Ellie didn't let me sleep at all last night. I maybe got about an hour and a half of sleep.

On top of that there was also one very messy diaper change last night that required a load of laundry and me to wash my face. ICK!

CLUB 29

I started a club - several years back called the 21 club. Now this was for all of my friends born on the 21st... since it seemed all my friends were born on the 21st of some month... Kristi, Jeff, Adam, Mike came close but no cigar, the list does go on...

Now Ellie and Derek can be apart of Club 29! :)

Anywho, I sent a package for her - with some cute things Derek and I picked out... hope you like them... one was even a Halloween time outfit! Super cute! Anywho, let me know when you get it!

Back to work!

Well your paternity leave went by like nothing! Are you saving days for later on in Ellie's life?

She is a gorgeous little girl, and I am soo happy my brother is a DADDY! So much going on in the Ross lives! New baby, new house! Very exciting times! Cannot wait to see her in person!

Home and back to work

Sarah, Ellie, and I came home Tuesday before noon which was nice. We were all getting very tired of the hospital (they kinda smell funny).

We got some nice gifts from Nicci and Mark, both of our parents, Curtis and Sara, Christina, and Arthur brought me lunch one night so I didn't have to leave Sarah and Ellie. It was really nice having so much support.

My parents were nice enough to keep Davey at their house while we were at the hospital, and they have some funny stories about how he and Guiness interacted. They brought him back to us Wednesday night. Davey is very confused and interested in Ellie. He keeps sniffing her and wanting to be near her and us. when she is in her cube he likes to stand up next to it and keep an eye on her. So far he has been very well behaved around her.

Yesterday, Ellie went to her first pediatritian's appointment. It went well, she is gaining weight, and looking ver healthy. The office is very close to our new house which is nice. Since we were out that way we decided to drive by it and check it out. We got a pleasent surprise. The house behind ours fenced in their yard! That means we only have to really fence one side now!

Today is my first day back to work. I have a lot of catch up to do. luckily Ellie didn't wake me up too badly, and now that I'm going to bed at 9pm I should be able to get enough sleep. She seems to wake up 3 times a night now, and at least one of them a night she doesn't want to go back to sleep. Luckily Sarah is being really great about taking care of her last night so I could get enough sleep for work. I'll make sure to do the same for her during the weekends. Hopefully when Sarah goes back to work in 7 weeks, Ellie will only be waking up 1-2 times a night... or not at all!

I am not sure how much you two will be updating your family blog now that Ellie is born. I HOPE YOU CONTINUE TO UPDATE IT, because I love to see what is going on in your lives, and the life of my little BEAUTIFUL NIECE!

I too have started a blog of a very different journey... the journey to the MARATHON. (see above link) this way everyone can stay up to date on the highs and lows of running 20-50 miles a week.

I am looking for a 4th in the marathon relay, and would love to share my 26.2 miles with one of you. If you decide that this is too much, I would hope that you would come out w/ my little niece and cheer me and my pack on. I'll call you to talk to you about this later....

It is ooo and ahhh time over beautiful baby Ellie! Cannot wait to see her in person!

Back from the hospital....

So how are things back at the homestead, away from the hospital? I hope Sarah is feeling alright.
